A middle-aged-woman was arraigned in a Thika Law Court today (Wednesday) after she was accused of stealing Sh300,000.

The accused Tabitha Nyambura, 37 appeared before Chief Magistrate Stephen Mbugi and pleaded not guilty.

The charge sheet indicated that Nyambura conned the cash from Patrick Muiruri who is a retail trader in Kanyoni, Gatundu North after she claimed to pray for his business expansion which, according to the accused, was to boom in three months’ time.

Complainant Muiruri was requested to deposit the cash at Kenya Commercial Bank which would result to serious prayers for his business advancement.

Muiruri told the Court how the accused confused her by claiming to have done the same to three other business people with success.

The Court heard that Muiruri deposited the cash only to hear from his undisclosed friend that the woman was a conlady who was going round the area cheating business people.

He reported the matter at Kanyoni Police Post who liaised with Gatundu Criminal Investigation officers to trace the accused before arresting her in April 6 2015 and taking her to Gakoe Police Station.

Magistrate Mbugi handed her Sh400,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh200,000 with one surerity. The case will heard ageing in June 2 2015.
