A woman has been arraigned before a Mombasa court to answer to charges of getting married to two men.
The accused, Marlin Coram Pownal was taken to court over bigamy, which contradicts section 171 of the penal code.
Bigamy is the act of entering into a marriage with a different person while you are still legally married to another person.
Pownal is said to have married Salim Juma Hakeem on the July 7, 2013 at the Kwale Kadhis courts in an Islamic marriage ceremony while she was still married to Carlo De Pasquale, a Christian.
Appearing before Mombasa Senior Resident Magistrate Edigah Kagoni on Wednesday, the accused pleaded not guilty, Baraka FM reports.
She was released on a Sh10, 000 cash bail pending hearing on April 12.
