A woman aged 34 is in police custody at Athi River police station for allegedly stabbing her husband to death in Mavoko on Saturday.

The suspect Julian Wanza is accused of murdering Ezekiel Njanja, 37, at their rented house at Ngwata estate in Athi River.

Area police boss Sharma Wario confirmed the arrest and said the woman stabbed Nyanja in the right thigh using a kitchen knife after a quarrel.

Wario said the man died later at the house after bleeding profusely.

Wario added that the weapon will be submitted as evidence in the murder case the suspect will face in court.

According to the neighbours, the two got back together a few weeks ago after they separated. They were drunk at the time of the fight.

"They quarreled frequently especially while drunk," a neighbor said.

Police arrested Wanza from a relative's house at Sofia estate.

The deceased body was taken to Shalom community hospital mortuary as police launched investigations.
