A woman was on Friday arrested in Kisumu after allegedly faking the death of her daughter at a Kisumu hospital.

According to authorities, the woman identified as Emily Anyango made false reports to a public officer at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and referral hospital where her daughter was undergoing treatment. 

She had claimed that her daughter, Violet Auma had died at the facility after she failed to raise Sh10, 000 demanded by medics for an operation. 

Kisumu Central OCPD Mr Peter Omanwa confirmed the incident stating that their own investigations found out that the woman was actually lying. 

“We are holding her for giving out false information. She will be arraigned in court on Monday,” said Mr Omanwa.
