A woman on Thursday jumped off a motorcycle and died after losing Sh7,000 to gambling.
The woman, Susan Auma, 29, is claimed to have jumped off the speeding motorbike as her husband cruised it.
Witnesses said Auma's husband forced her onto the motorbike so that they go home and discuss the issue.
The incident happened in Kotienoresi village near Obuya market in Rangwe, Homa Bay.
"Auma had refused to board, fearing she would be beaten after losing the money," a witness Jacinta Awino told Radio Jambo.
Area chief Kennedy Akoko who confirmed the incident said Auma left home for the market on Wednesday afternoon but failed to return after losing the cash.
The chief said the husband launched a manhunt for her and found her engaged in an argument with gambling machine owners.
The husband told the machine operators that he had given his wife money to go shopping but she took away with her more money from their savings.
"She was found near the gambling machine," Akoko said.
"She jumped off the motorbike on their way home but later died of injuries she sustained."
Homa Bay County police commander said the woman died as her head hit the ground sustaining internal injuries.
Her body was taken to the Homa Bay Referral Hospital mortuary.
