A woman was on Friday killed after being attacked by an elephant in Samburu County.

The 44-year old woman was traversing the forest on her way to Maralal Town when she was attacked by the elephant.

Samburu Central Officer Commanding Police Division, Abagaro Guyo confirmed the incident stating that the deceased body was moved to Samburu County Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

He called upon the Kenya Wildlife Service to conduct frequent patrols near the forest to ensure no stray animals attack people.
