The armed men are said to have opened fire on the cars killing a woman in Rhamu area.

A man who was caught up in the attack was left nursing injuries.

Mandera North MP hopeful Mohamed Abdi condemned the incident and urged County Commissioner Fredrick Shisia to carry out speedy investigations into the matter.

"We are asking the security team to investigate and get to the bottom of this. This was an attempt at a political assassination," said Abdi.

Witnesses at the scene claimed that the gunmen were targeting the Abdi’s brother, who is a chief, The Star reports.
