A 53-year old woman was on Wednesday evening killed in cold blood in her home in Thogoto, kikuyu Sub County.

The woman, identified as Alice Wanjiku Ngugi, a mother of seven was in the kitchen when the attack happened at around 8pm. 

According to eye witnesses and neighbours who responded to the distress call, the suspect shot the deceased three times before escaping within the neighborhood.

“I was on a phone call when I heard gun shots. I followed my husband who was also heading towards the direction of the gunshots. On my way out I met one of the deceased’s daughters who was calling out for assistance. I found the deceased lying on the floor in a pool of blood with one of the sons trying to assist her. I ran back to my house and raised the alarm which alerted the residents and came to the scene,” narrated Salome Wairimu, a neighbour. 

According to Wairimu, the children had been locked in the house from the outside while the culprit committed the heinous act. Area security officers who were patrolling the area arrived at the scene shortly and discovered two spent cartridges and one bullet head lodged in her forehead. 

“The patrol team was in their normal operations during the incident. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen with gun shots on the forehead and the left side of the chest. Two spent cartridges and one bullet head lodged in her body were discovered at the scene,” Kikuyu Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Birgen Kiptoo, said. 

According to the statement given by the officers investigating the case, the suspect is alleged to have fled on an unidentified motorbike. 

The police are still looking for the owner of the bike, believed to be involved in several criminal activities which have been rampant in the area.
