The body of a 58-year-old woman was discovered in her house in Mwokenagwa Metembe, Kenyenya Kisii County on Tuesday night.
Residents suspect that the widow was killed by family members because the family has been having a disagreement over land.
Her body was discovered by her granddaughter who she was living with at around 8 pm.
The body had physical injuries with deep cuts in the head a clear indication that the killers.
“The killers attacked her with a machete because she had deep cuts in the head and hands. We suspect family members might have hired the murderers because the family has been quarreling over a piece of land the woman-owned, “said Mary Mokogoti, a neighbor.
Mokogoti said the woman’s husband died several years ago over a land dispute.
Her body was taken to Kisii teaching and referral hospital mortuary.
