A woman has been arrested for killing and later burning the body of her nine-month-old baby at Uhuru Park, Nairobi County.

Police say the woman is believed to have killed the baby boy elsewhere and later brought him to the park where she set him on fire.

According to Nairobi Police Chief Japheth Koome, pedestrians who were passing through the park called police but on arriving, the boy had died.

“The police were called after members of the public realised the baby boy had died and had been burnt. It is not clear what drove the woman to the act but she will be interrogated before being produced in court with murder,” he stated.

Koome said the baby’s remains have been taken to the City Mortuary, Nairobi.
