A woman in Mombasa has been charged in court after she allegedly killed her son following a disagreement with her husband.
The woman, Linet Wandalo is said to have committed the crime after being ordered to return to the village in Kakamega County. The couples live in Mombasa.
She appeared before High Court Judge Dora Chepkwony and remanded awaiting the hearing of her case.
According to the prosecution, Wandalo was on May 9 ordered to leave Mombasa for her husband's village in Butere but she declined after demanding Sh50,000 from the husband which she wanted to start a business with.
The husband is said to have told her to travel and would later send the money to her through MPESA but she refused to leave.
On May 10, however, she is said to have stubbed the three-year-old boy killing him on the spot. Police arrested her after neighbors reported the incident which happened in Migadini Changamwe to police.
The husband was away at work at the time the incident happened.
One of the neighbors who rushed to report the case in police said she heard the boy scream unusually and when she ran to Wandalo's house she found deceased bleeding profusely.
"I couldn't believe she did it to her own son," Milcah Mwamdawiro said.
