A woman gang-raped in Nairobi on Friday during the welcome of NASA leader Raila Odinga is now out of danger though still nursing injuries.
The woman was raped inside her M-Pesa shop in Shauri Moyo along Jogoo Road by five men said to be part of the rioting group.
The men also vandalised her shop and looted money and property.
Youth Affairs and Gender Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki visited her at the Nairobi Hospital and condemned the act saying it was barbaric.
“The trauma she has gone through cannot be quantified. I urge politicians to implore their supporters to use better channels to voice their discontent,” the CS said.
Brian Muindi, a doctor at the facility, said she also suffered psychologically.
“The woman underwent psychological suffering and will be receiving treatment for the next three to five days. She is currently out of danger,” he said.
