The accused, Mercy Wamboi, 32, failed to raise a harsh cash bond of Sh100,000, or a cash bail of Sh50,000, after the prosecution desk told Chief Resident Magistrate Felix Kombo that the accused was a notorious illicit brews dealer, who risked the lives of tens of people in Ronda slum area, who frequent her home to purchase and consume the illicit and illegal alcoholic drinks.

The prosecution desk told the court that on February 11 2015, police officers acting on a tip off from members of the public raided a building owned by the accused at a business area in Ronda estate, and impounded 1000 sachets of unlicensed and illicit alcoholic drinks, which she was selling to several people.

The prosecution added that the drinks, according to police investigations are manufactured in an unlawful process and manner, thus posing a great danger to public health.

The accused however denied the charges, arguing that she was a mere worker at the joint where the illegal items were unearthed.

She will remain in custody until the hearing of the case on March 3.
