The money is part of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund which was delivered to counties after a long tussle in Parliament by the 47 women representatives across the country.

And on Wednesday during the issuance of uniforms at Ritibo Primary School, Mrs Chae through her representative Jared Ongiri, said more needy students across the county will be absorbed into the programme to give them a second chance in their lives.

“The office of Women Rep is currently issuing full scholarships to underprivileged students across the county and that is why I have come here. We want to see our children getting an education to better their future,” he said.

“We thought it wise to make it full sponsorship to avoid cases of these students dropping out of school. We may not be able to satisfy everyone but hopefully we will get more money and perhaps bring more students into the system,” he added.

Among the institutions which benefited from the program were Kiogutwa, Nyaikuro and Ritibo youth polytechnics. A few students from Riakworo secondary were also factored in.
