Lamu Woman Representative Shakila Abdalla narrowly escaped death after being involved in a road accident on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at around 2pm when the car Abdalla was traveling in lost control and rolled several times at Maisha Masha area, along the Witu-Mokowe road following a tyre burst.The legislator, who was going to Mpeketoni to attend the International Women's Day celebrations, sustained minor injuries.The other two occupants of the vehicle also sustained minor injuries.“We had reached Maisha Masha when the front tyre of the (Toyota) Land Cruiser Prado burst, forcing the vehicle to roll several times. We thank God that all of us are alive despite the slight injuries that we sustained during the incident,” said the driver, as quoted by the nation. Despite sustaining the injuries, Abdalla still went to Mpeketoni and presided over the celebrations.The legislator and her assistant were however unreachable when the daily tried to contact them.
