Garissa Woman Representative hopeful Amina Keinan has promised to unite different clans and communities living in the county if elected in the coming August 8 polls.

Keinan, who is vying on Kanu party ticket said that there exists disunity among clans and communities which he said has led to suspicion among residents.

She said that the disunity has been caused by some politicians who are perpetuating personal and selfish politics.

Speaking to journalists after launching her manifesto in Garissa on Tuesday, Keinan said that unity among locals will propel the county to development.

"One of the key agenda's I have is to bring Garissa communities and clans together and built a cohesive society," she said as quoted by the Standard.

Keinan also pledged to address clan border conflicts in the county if elected. She said that border conflicts continue to threaten the county’s security.

The Woman Representative hopeful also pledged to promote and champion education and healthcare.

She asked residents to support her bid saying that she will work for them without discrimination.

Keinan says that she has what it takes to send incumbent Shukran Gure packing.

Other aspirants in the race to unseat Gure are Ebla Sahal vying on Amani National Congress (ANC), Maryan Sheikh contesting on Thirds-Way Alliance party, Fatuma Kinsi contesting on ODM party ticket and Annab Subow vying on Jubilee party ticket.

Gure is seeking re-election on Wiper ticket and has dismissed rivals saying they have no development agenda for locals.
