Jubilee woman rep candidate Anab Gure stands a better chance of clinching the seat after the non-locals living in Garissa endorsed her candidature.
Speaking after she was endorsed to contest for the post on Wednesday, Adan said that other leaders should not undermine the position of women rep because it is “just as important as the other elective posts.”
The vocal aaspirant reminded the residents to elect leaders based on their agenda and not propaganda as we draw closer to the August election date.
“The creation of the seat was long overdue, especially for the residents of Northeastern whose women have been locked out of leadership positions because of culture,” she said.
The aspirant, who is backing the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, asked the residents of this region to scrutinize the manifestos of different candidates contesting for various posts including women rep before making their final decisions over the same.
She also said that wise choice of leadership stands to benefits the community, adding that the current governance has not done much for the people of the area.
“I urge our people, as they go to cast their votes in August 8, to choose candidates who will have outlined a manifesto that can be implemented for the benefit of women and youth,” Gure said.
