Kisii Woman rep Janet Ong’era on Monday asked the court to throw out a case seeking to nullify her election, terming it defective.
According to Ong’era, her win reflects the will of the people of Kisii.
In a sworn affidavit before High Court Judge Anthony Ndung’u, the lawmaker told the court that she was validly elected, adding that she has no case to answer with regard to the August election.
She dismissed claims by the petitioner Nahashon Akunga that the exercise was marred by all sorts of irregularities.
“My Lord the August polls were free, fair and transparent. I want to state that I was validly elected,” Ong’era said, as quoted by the Star.
Ong’era also told the court that her competitor did not present any witness to testify over missing ballot boxes claims.
On her part, county returning officer Sydney Namulunga said that the petitioner did not lament over the register or number of voters who cast their votes during the exercise.
