A woman was on Monday night attacked, robbed off her hand bag and stripped naked by unknown assailants in Thika’s Majengo area.
Witnesses say they heard the woman scream minutes after midnight but when they went for rescue, the gang of about six men escaped towards Chania River.
The incident days after Thika police boss Shadrack Maithya convened a meeting to discuss the rising cases of insecurity in the area, in which he promised to bring every culprit to book.
The Chania area Nyumba Kumi initiative chairman, George Muriithi, said that his committee is working closely with the police to make sure every culprit is arrested.
“It is such a communal task that even the police need our help in fighting crime in this area plus they have the whole sub-county to look after,” said Muriithi.
The OCPD assured that police have launched investigations into the incident and it would not be long before the suspects are apprehended.
Maithya also urged the members of the community to be vigilant and report any suspicious characters operating in the area.
