A woman in Magumo village, Kirinyaga County is seeking government's help over the arrest and detention of her daughter in Mauritius.
The daughter, Ruth Njeri who is 25 years old is said to be in the company of three other girls from Magumo and all the four are currently in police custody in the foreign country.
Mary Wangare Muigai, Njeri's mother on Friday said her daughter who went to the Island country in Southern Africa called and notified her four days ago of how life was difficult in the Island nation.
She said an agent in January approached and told her of great opportunities in Mauritius and wanted her daughter to travel with him.
She agreed and paid for the air ticket as well as partial payment for the agent who she did not name.
"He came and told me and three of my friends that he was looking for girls to go and work in a hotel in Mauritius," Wangare said.
"Because the pay was good we agreed and all the four of us paid Sh260,000 each to him to help process travel documents. The girls left and we only received a call after four days that the agent had disappeared," she added.
"The girls have been ejected from the house they were living in and have been arrested. The government should intervene and help the girls return home."
She said each of the four girls aged between 22 and 26 needs at least Sh70,000 to travel back to Kenya.
