Dorothy Anyango was among several protesters shot by police using live bullets during anti-IEBC protests in June.

In an interview with the Star, Anyango said she was shot in her house in Shauri Yako estate where she and two other women had gone to seek refuge from the chaos.

“I had closed my business and run to my house with two other women. We saw an anti-riot officer come towards us and shoot at us,” Anyango said on the phone. “I was shot in my left arm and another woman in the leg.” she said

Anyango was admitted at Homa Bay County Referral Hospital and later transferred to Tenwek Hospital in Bomet where she is being held until she clears the bill amounting to Sh400,000.

“The doctor approved my discharge on August 3 and at that time the bill stood at sh392,000. I appeal for money to settle this bill and meet other financial needs,” Anyango added.
