A woman from Bokondo village in Nyamira on Wednesday shocked locals after snubbing her husband's funeral.

Residents said the deceased legally married the woman according to the Kisii culture thus satisfying them as husband and wife. 

“The deceased identified as Moriango fell ill and died in Nairobi a week ago but his wife has snubbed her against our traditions," said Charles Onchwari.

The deceased family demanded their dowry insisting that the woman's family had disociated themselves from the man's family.

"This is not a simple matter. It is now clear that they have violated a marriage thus must refund us our dowry," said one Mogire, the father to the deceased.
