The woman is reported to have carried out the act after her husband demanded for food yet she had none to give him.

Confirming the incident, area Assistant Chief Martin Jakoyo said the deceased returned home drunk at 11pm on Sunday and threatened to stab his wife.

''The deceased ordered the wife to give him some food or risk being stubbed,'' said the chief.

Mr Jakoyo said an argument ensued between the couple and the wife who seemed to be protecting herself grabbed a knife and stubbed the husband who died on spot.

The deceased is reported to have struggled with the wife before he was stubbed.

Jakoyo also said the deceased's old brother tried to save him but it was too late.

''His brother who lives in the same compound hard the commotion and ran to see what was happening. He found his younger brother lying in a pool of blood. It was too late, he could not survive,'' added Jakoyo.

The body was taken to the Madiany Sub-county Hospital mortuary as the woman is being held at Aram Police Station.
