A 70-year-old woman is at Bondeni Police Station in Nakuru after she allegedly strangled her three months old grand-daughter to death on Sunday evening.

 According to the area chief, George Ng'ang'a, who arrived at the woman's homestead after the incident, the woman was very drunk together with her daughter; the baby’s mother.

"I was called on at around 9.30 pm on Sunday, by  Kanu Street Nyumba Kumi Chairman who told me that there was a child who had been strangled," said Ng'ang'a.

The Chief said that he had a hard time trying to stop the irate crowd which was baying for the two women's blood.

 "I had to lock them both in the house before calling the Police Officers from Bondeni Police Station who took them away," said Ng’ang’a.

 Ng'ang'a have said that the baby's body was taken by Police for post-mortem.

He urged residents to continue co-operating with their Nyumba Kumi cells so as to help unearth such heinous deeds.
