Ms Natalia Atieno, who runs a pub within Nairobi’s Umoja estate, was accused of allegedly stabbing a female police officer, Ms Daisy Charo.

The prosecution told the court that the accused person committed the offence on May 3, this year in Umoja Estate.

Ms Atieno was facing charges of allegedly assaulting a female police officer and another charge of indecent exposure.

The court heard that on the material date, the accused person who was tipsy was found operating her pub before the recommended time of 5 o’clock.

The police who were on patrol attempted to arrest her but she resisted while hurling insults at the police officers.

When a female officer tried to handcuff the accused person, she quickly reached for a kitchen knife under the counter and stabbed the officer on the forehead.

The court further heard that the accused person also snatched officer Daisy’s mobile phone and smashed it on the floor before stripping naked and taking off to stop the male officers from arresting her.

The accused person was later arrested by the officer the following day and taken to court.

The accused person however denied the charges before the court and filed an application to be released on bail pending the next case hearing.

The court granted the application and ordered for her to be released on a cash bail of Sh10,000.
