Angry residents beat up a woman mercilessly after she threatened to bewitch her husband of 5 years.
The incident happened on Thursday at Bonyamokenye 2 village in Bokemweri Sameta, Kisii County.
Residents said the woman identified as Rosa threatened to bewitch her husband, Daniel Onsombi after he married a second wife.
"We warned Rosa to stop insults and threats to her husband after he married a second wife but she could not listen. Residents teamed up and gave her a beating because she threatened that she will bewitch her husband and ensure he become crippled,” said a resident Edgar Nyabaro.
Area Nyumba Kumi official Luka Ondimu confirmed the incident and said the woman’s bad behaviors made her husband marry another wife.
“Rosa has been giving Onsombi troubles since he married her 5 years ago something that prompted him to marry another wife. Residents caned her because she was insulting and abusing his husband,” said Ondimu.
Ondimu said it is not a crime to marry more that one wife as long as a man is stable financially.
