A woman who produced illicit liquor that killed five people in Ruiru was on Monday sentenced to hang by a Nairobi High after he was convicted of five counts of murder.

The accused, Jennifer Wanjiru is accused of murdering Jane Wambua Kamau, Festus David Nzuki, Samuel Waweru Wanjiko, Julius Kariuki Mwangi and David Karanja Ndwati.

She faced ight counts of murder but the court found her liable for only five.

In her sentence, High Court Judge Jessie Lessit said the accused was fully aware of the corrosive nature of the product she was selling and the negative effects it would have on her customers.

Wanjiru will have14 days to appeal the decision of the court if she is not satisfied with the decision of the court.
