A Nakuru court on Wednesday released a 30-year-old aged woman on a 70,000 bond after she was accused of attacking her husband’s alleged lover with a crude weapon, inflicting serious bodily harm on her.
Senior resident magistrate Patrick Mwaniki heard that on September 15 this year, Agnes Mokua attacked Mary Nyambura with a kitchen knife after finding her in the company of her husband Benard Mokua at a market centre in Makao estate.
Denying the accusation, the woman told the court that she only acted in self-defense after her husband and his ‘lover’ attacked her. While releasing her, the court warned Mrs Mokua to keep off her husband’s alleged lover.
Multiple sources indicated that after the attack, Nyambura was hospitalised in a critical condition, having sustained injuries on the face and chest.
The case will be mentioned on November 12 this year, the court said.
Meanwhile, the same court remanded a 20-year-old man who the prosecution said was on September 27 this year found in possession of stolen property in Kivumbini estate.
James Kimaru, who denied the charges, however, could not afford to raise a cash bail of Sh15,000 and was remanded until the case is heard on October 12 this year.
