Police in Nairobi have arrested a woman who burnt her 15-year-old daughter after accusing her of having a boyfriend.The woman was arrested by police from Riruta Police Station after the incident was highlighted on social media by Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga.The girl is said to have disappeared from home on December 25 only to be found at her boyfriend’s house in the neighbourhood in Rituta Satellite.The girl’s mother is reported to have frog matched the girl back home before she lit a fire and used a hot metal bar to burn her buttocks.Interestingly, when the girl went to hospital for treatment, the health facility whose name has been concealed turned her away because the teenager had no money.She was, however, admitted to the Nairobi Women’s Hospital after Senator Omanga’s intervention.Omanga took time to tell parents to sober up learn how to treat their children.“Parents especially mothers, we need a conversation. How would a real mother do this to her 15-year-old daughter? What has society turned into? Where is humanity and love? Why so much bitterness?” asked Omanga.“I want to dedicate my Christmas time and resources to make sure the girl is treated and she gets justice for whatever it takes. Let’s pray for this little Angel for God’s healing,” she added.
