A 32-year old woman suspected of dumping her two-week old baby was arrested on Tuesday in Kitheuni Area in Yatta Sub-County Machakos County.

The baby girl was rescued on Monday evening when a resident who was herding heard her cries in a bush in the area.

Ikombe Location Chief Onesmus Nzile confirmed this incident saying that the baby is under observation in Matuu Level Four Hospital.

Nzile noted that the police were able to nab the woman after a tip-off from the residents who had been urged to report to the police in case they have information.

The woman is held at Matuu Police Station where she is helping the police with investigations and is expected to appear in court once the investigations are over.
