A 26-year-old woman was arraigned before a Nairobi Court for allegedly stabbing her husband to death after they differed on who won the presidential election.

Ms Mary Nzungi was being accused of allegedly killing her husband, Jeremiah Ngala in Lindi, Kibera slum, Nairobi on 27 August.

The court heard that on the material date, the couple who are both shoe vendors at Toi market had quarreled early in the day at the market.

At around 9.30pm Mr Ngala came home drunk and started abusing his wife who allegedly picked a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the right side of the neck.

Mr Ngala who is said to be a staunch supporter of NASA chief Raila Odinga was stabbed following a heated political argument with his wife who is a Jubilee supporter.

The court heard that the accused person was arrested by the police after the police were alerted by neighbors who responded to screams by Ms Ngala.

The accused was allegedly found by the neighbors holding the kitchen knife and her husband lying in a pool of blood.

Milimani resident magistrate Sinkiyian Tobiko ordered for the accused to be detained for 21 days in police custody.

The case will be mentioned on September 15.
