A woman who stabbed her 24-year-old boyfriend was on Wednesday 31 crowned the 2016/2017 Miss Langata Women Prisons in an annual event which attracted 19 other women contestants.

Ruth Wanjiru Kamande who on the night of 21 September 2015 in Buruburu, stabbed her fiancée Farid Mohammed 22 times on his chest, neck and head, is currently facing murder charges. She allegedly found love messages on his phone.

The 22-year-old woman also sustained face injuries and was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital where she was handcuffed to her bed. The boyfriend died while undergoing treatment at the said hospital.

In the competition, Tanzanian national Tina Martina who is facing drug trafficking charges was the first runner-up as Susan Wairimu settled for the third position.

Speaking at the same event, Nairobi Women Representative Rachel Shebesh who was the guest of honor pledged to bail out the 20 inmates who are likely to walk free on Thursday as the hearing of their cases continues.
