Residents of Ogango village in Nyamira County were on November 12, 2010 left reeling in shock after a man killed his wife over slaughtering a chicken without his consent.
On that very day, it is reported that, the woman who is claimed to be his wife had visitors. So, she decided to prepare chicken stew for them as way of expressing hospitality.
However, her husband was extremely annoyed after realising that one of his hen, the slaughtered chicken was missing. Reportedly, he confronted his wife with kicks and blows in front of their only son. In the event, the woman kicked a basket.
Thereafter, he took her body and inhumed near a river. On that particular night, their son who witnessed the heinous act ran for his life and reported the matter to his maternal grandparents at a nearby village.
The following day, the man was nabbed by an area commander, Shadrack Maithia after his mother-in-law reported the case to the police.
