A middle aged woman was found on Tuesday morning found with more than 40 photos of people believed to have died long time by a roadside.
The woman escaped death narrowly from furious members of public who thought she was involved with the bizarre act of witchcraft.
The incident happened near Kwangei Bridge in Sofia, Yatta Sub-County and those who found the woman were allegedly drawn to the stranger kneeling down while making funny sounds.
Immediately the residents noticed the women’s dressings and identified some of the people in the pictures, they notified the public who got furious and began throwing stones at her. The woman who was speaking in Swahili was rescued by the police who arrived at the scene shortly after.
Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang assured that the woman had been taken into custody at Matuu police station and was awaiting to be arraigned in court later in the day.
“We have the suspect in custody and a case will be filed against her as she is explaining she was headed to Mombasa from a place known as Kasa. The police are still investigating and questioning the woman over the issue,” he added.
The chairman of bodaboda operators in Sofia town Joshua Mwinzi explained that the motorcycle riders informed the public of the rare occurence.
