Police have launched investigations to a murder of a woman in her mid-20s who was found badly mutilated and dumped in Nyangweta forest of South Mugirango in Kisii.
The woman from Bosinange village was allegedly raped before her assailants killed and badly mutilated her body.
According to the local residents, this has been a third case in a span of three months where two bodies have been found dumped in mysterious circumstances.
They say that the forest has been notorious for murder incidents and are calling on the police to extend their night patrols around the area in order to avert more crime.
“This is the third incident of murder in the last three months, can we sit and watch and see our people die in that forest, how many lives does the government want to be lost in order to take action? We want this to be the last murder in this forest," said one local who sought anonymity.
The body has been moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
