The body of 70-year old woman who went missing on Wednesday last week from her home in Mikuyu village, Masinga Sub-county in Machakos County was found hanging from one tree near her home on Friday evening.

Itunduimuni Location Chief Michael Soja said that the old woman was living alone in her home and she has not been seen around since Wednesday.

"No one had seen her since last week, until she was found dead, she hanged herself using a leso near her home," said Soja.

He added that the reasons behind her taking her life aren't known since she wasn't social with people.

"No one has an idea of what went on that drove her to take her own life,she lived a solitary life", he added.

Her body was taken to Matuu Median Mortuary.
