Police have launched investigations after a body of unknown woman was found lying near a Juja stream on Tuesday evening.
According to a police source, the body was found by children who had been fetching water from the stream in Mirimaini area of Juja sub-county who informed their parents who then alerted the police.
Speaking to the press shortly after the body was retrieved, the new Juja OCS, Peter Gituma Njihia said the deceased is suspected to have been murdered and then dumped in the area as she had several cuts on her chest and neck.
“We have retrieved a handkerchief that was used to suffocate her before the murder from her neck and also a mobile phone in her pocket and I believe we will use them to fast-track our investigations,” Gituma told the press from his office.
The police boss said they are yet to establish the motive behind the incident adding that they have partnered help from Thika and Ruiru where detectives have been sent in the area to help in the probe.
“We are appealing to members of the public who have lost their relatives or a friend to come and help identify the deceased as well as help the officers in the investigations,” Njihia added.
The body was taken General Kago Morgue in Thika town waiting to be claimed.
