A mixture of drama, laughter and a somber mood engulfed residents of Ritibo village in Kitutu Masaba constituency when a 26yr-old mother of two claimed that her seven month pregnancy had vanished under circumstances unknown to her.
Phyllis Ogamba who works as a small scale trader looked visibly shocked by the ‘miracle’ when she woke up this morning only to find her pregnancy gone.
“This is a mysterious incident. Everyone knows I’ve been carrying a baby but I don’t know what happened. It is something strange to me since I did not even abort or miscarry, am happily married,” she said.
According to her, the incident may have a direct link to witchcraft from her adversaries in the village who she claimed had been giving her sleepless nights.
“It isn’t an allegation but these witches have been disturbing me and my conscious most of the nights and they have something to do with this,” she claimed.
Most villagers however differed substantially with her allegations terming them ‘unfounded and flawed’ since they have never heard of such an incident.
“These are rumors, innuendos and fiction. Biologically whatever she is claiming is impossibility. I think she should be investigated of a possible termination of pregnancy,” said John Onchon’ga, a neighbor.
Dr. Atuti Haron of Gesima sub-district Hospital said the incident is a mystery since it cannot be proved biologically.
He termed the incident as a rude shock that may attract medics to do a research on it to prove whether it is possible.
