A middle aged woman's body was recovered in Ichuni on Saturday without head, in what residents say is brutality orchestrated by armed gangs.
Witnesses say that the lady was working as a caretaker of plots within the Keroka region and had gone missing for the better part of Friday.
Michael Onsombi, the area chief, said the woman's torso was discovered by children who were going for church service in the region.
"The woman was successfully identified by villagers as Caren Kemuma and she was working at a firm as a caretaker before her brutal murder," Onsombi said.
The chief further added that the woman's head was missing and wondered what were the intension of the killers of the innocent woman.
"The police arrived on the scene and the search of the head of the woman has commenced. We are yet to establish the motive of the killing," he added.
Such incidents have been however on the rise in the area forcing elected leaders from entire Gusii region calling upon interior CS Dr Fred Matiang'i to reshuffle the entire security team.
The body of the woman is currently being preserved at Nyamira Morgue as police intensity the search of her head as well as killers and their intention.
