Nyamira First Lady Naomi Nyagarama has called upon women in the county to form Saving Cooperative Societies (Sacco) which will empower them at the same time promoting development.

Mrs Nyangarama while speaking on Thursday said that the Saccos will enable them receive government funding because it is difficult for an individual to access state loans unless he or she was in a development group or Sacco.

"You cannot succeed alone, come up with groups and even if you will not benefit from government funds you can start a kitty where you will be contributing money. That way you can create much impact," she said.

Nyangarama was speaking at her residence on Thursday where agricultural officers from the county were awarded with certificates of participation after being trained on how to increase farm produce.

She urged the officers to assist the upcoming farmers understand the modern ways of farming that can improve their produce. 

"You have been employed to assist farmers on how to improve farming, kindly do your best, and we shall assist you in any possible way. Majority of our people depend on farming and its your task to ensure they get the best out of it," added Nyagarama.

The county First Lady has been on the forefront in donating bananas, vegetable seeds, chicken and eggs to youth and women groups across the county in an initiative aimed at reducing unemployment rates.
