“Our ladies are major casualties of food poisoning. We do not want to hear such cases that couldn be prevented by simply not eating in any place one gets food. It is not necessary to eat anywhere you find food,” advised the Chief.
Chief Achika noted that it is not easy to ascertain people who allegedly poison food, adding that the only possible way to avoid falling a victim is to avoid taking meals that he or she is not aware of their whereabouts.
He said the cases were rampant among women who were fond of attending mass gatherings such as funerals, weddings and cultural functions such as circumcision.
“When two or more people complain about something then there could be some truth in it. We have the tendency of ensuring that we eat at events such as funerals without taking into consideration our safety,” added Chief Achika.
This comes after the administrator received seven cases of alleged food poisoning from the area in which five of the casualties unfortunately died recently while the remaining two survived. Postmortem done on the five who died indicated presence of high toxic levels in their blood system.
