Who said women cannot work as security guards at banks, living premises, business buildings and hospitals?
Women are slowly proving that what men can do they can do as well.
In Kibera, Ann Okinyi and Hyrine Baraza work as security guards. The two women are very dedicated to their work.
On Sunday, Ms Okinyi said that she decided to work as a security guard to boost her family and provide food as well as her husband did. Ms Okinyi who works with Riley Security Company said her husband was not able to support the family fully but due to the love she has for her family, she decided to look for a security job to provide for the family too.
"Some women are always idle at home. I saw it fit to get a job as a security guard to help my husband support the family. I do not see any problem working as a security guard just because I am a woman," she said.
Hyrine Baraza also said that since she lacked a job in the secretarial world which she had studied for, she opted to work as a security guard for survival in Nairobi.
"I have been working as a security guard for the last 2 years now and I find my job so good such that I have no intentions on quitting. No matter what people say about me, I will always be dedicated to my work and achieve my future goals," she said.
It is quite evident that women have come out to compete with men in jobs.
