Former Lands Minister Charity Kaluki Ngilu has said that women in this nation can make great leaders if they step out of their comfort zones.
Ngilu, who has declared interest in Kitui governorship, said that women have proven that they can deliver if elected into different capacities.
"Women have proved that they can be good leaders who want to change the lives of their people," said Ngilu, as quoted by Star.
The aspirant, who made history as Kenya's first female presidential candidate in 1997, has affirmed that she will give Kitui governor Dr. Julius Malombe a run for his money in the forthcoming polls.
Her sentiments were backed by Macharia Munene, a professor of international relations at Nairobi's United States International University, who said women have proven that they want to change this nation.
"This time, at least two women are almost guaranteed for the position," he said. The don added that women have shown that they are able to transform this county if given the mandate to lead in different capacities.
"They might win because they have proven themselves as capable leaders in previously held positions," he added.
Other women contesting for governorship include former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti (Machakos) Sotik MP Lornah Laboso (Bomet), Former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru ( Kirinyaga) and Narc Kenya Leader Martha Karua ( Kirinyaga).
