Naivasha Women for peace coordinator Purity Wanjira has called on the women in the area to take advantage of the festive season and preach peace in the area.
Wanjira said that in most cases, women were able to reach more to their family members during the festive season. This, Wanjira pointed out, was because of the huge turnout of relatives who often congregate to celebrate.
“Women often talk to the family about irrelevant issues during this festive season. It is important for them to preach peace to them,” she added.
She added that this will enable the women to spread the word of peace throughout the country hence adopt a peace culture.
“Women play a key role when it comes to fighting violence and tribal wars. They have a convincing tongue and are able to arbitrate in every situation. This should be the case throughout,” she added.
Wanjira also called on the women to sort out their differences amicably, citing that the increased cases of women being killed and maimed after fights was alarming.
“Recently a woman was killed after they disagreed over spoons with her friends. It is unfortunate that someone can lose her life over something that could be easily sorted out by talking,” she added.
