Women from the Coast region competed favourably against their male counterparts in the just concluded Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominations. This comes after Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa and her Mombasa counterpart Mishi Mboko bagged party tickets to contest for the Malindi and Likoni parliamentary seats in the forthcoming general election. Jumwa trounced the incumbent, Willy Mtengo after she garnered 8,456 votes against Mtengo's 3,758 votes.Mtengo, however, insisted that he did not lose the polls, adding that the party should repeat the exercise.In Mombasa, Mboko gave her rival Ali Domoko a run for his money after she floored him with a relatively huge margin.Mboko garnered 5,935 votes against Domoko's 3,294 votes. Mboko, who will battle it out with Wiper candidate Suleiman Shakombo, and Jubilee's Masoud Mwahima thanked her supporters for standing with her during the nominations.Mboko and Jumwa have been declared winners despite their rivals objecting the outcome of the exercise.
