Kiambu Women have been told to seek leadership positions to be in a position to help address the issues facing the society.
Speaking at the Kikuyu Council of Elders headquarters in Kasarani on Monday, kiambu Women Representative Priscilla Nyokabi said time for women to rise is now.
She added that the country needs women for it to run its activities effectively.
“I will continue to ask women to take up leadership positions and fight for what belongs to us,” she noted.
The women representative noted that the constitution has given women a voice which they should use to better the society.
Nyokabi intimated that women empowerment should be spearhead across the country to enable women make informed choices especially on matters that touch politics.
The Kiambu women leader also asked women to support each and alleviate themselves from poverty.
She observed that poverty and illiteracy are the main challenges facing women especially in rural areas.
She however intimated that the introduction of women fund and other development funds will help women rise up.
The women leaders asked fellow women to apply for State funds and start business ventures.
Nyokabi also called upon women leaders to work towards one agenda which is to improve the lives of women across the country.
