Kiambu sub-county women representative, Ms. Ann Nyokabi, said this when she was supervising a voter registration exercise in Ndumberi.

She stated that gender equality cannot be achieved while women are shying away from leadership positions.

Ms. Nyokabi said that taking part in leading local platforms like churches, women groups, community committees and school boards among others is a leeway to being a leader in legislative and administrative positions.

“Women are leaving their male counterparts to occupy elective positions yet they are equally equipped. It’s time we break the cycle in these positions.” She reckoned.

She also urged women to vote.
