Women from Katine village in Kangundo Sub-County today (Saturday) matched towards the office of the District Commissioner protesting against sale of illegal liquor in the area.
The furious women said that the youth in the area have gotten addicted to the liquor suspected to be containing hard drugs.
Margret Munyiva, a resident, who was among the protesters, said her two sons are victims of the liquor whose side effects results behaving like mentally disturbed persons.
“We are griefed by the fact that the alcohol is being sold to under age youths. My two sons are victims and whenever they drink they start drooling from the mouth and behaving abnormally,” said Munyiva.
Francisca Muluki, a business woman in Tala, on Friday said that the brews notorious seller, Peter Kimani, is well known by both residents and the police officers.
“District Commissioner should step-in and rescue the youth. The owner of the small bar is called Peter Kimani and is well known to the police officers because he was recently arrested while found in possession of illegal drugs but released later,” said Muluki.
