Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi on Friday graced a women in business meeting organized by Echo Network Africa and the County Government of Mombasa through the Department of Youth, Sports, Gender and Cultural Services.

The workshop brought together women in business from more than 15 counties across the country.

Mombasa county government as well sponsored over 20 women among them, people enabled differently to this forum. 

"We are humbled to have been the city of choice for this great forum," he said.

Kingi affirmed that the County government of Mombasa remains committed to addressing the plight of women.

"Our policies have an open bias to the empowerment of women in our county. We believe that our women shall take advantage of county incentives such as the revolving fund to start up business, jump start dwindling businesses and even to expand the scope of their businesses to reach wider markets."

He noted that the county's procurement policy is also as gender sensitive as it should be to ensure equity in distribution of government business.

"We shall further our engagements with other development partners in this sector such as the Kenya Women Trust Fund to ensure that we empower our women accordingly by availing the necessary financial support and advice to our women in business," said the DG.
