After performing dismally in the recently concluded general elections at the ward level, women in Uasin Gishu have been rewarded with almost all the slots that had been allocated for nomination to the County Assembly.

Only one Female MCA, Kimumu's Sarah Malel was elected out of the 30 wards in the county.

According to the Kenya Gazette published by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), on Tuesday, women were allocated 15 out of the available 17 slots.

Samora Machel representing interests of the ethnic minority and Edwin Kipkoech Misoi for the youths were the only male nominated MCAs.

Boroswa Mary Goreti was picked to represent the interests of minority at the Assembly while Kosgei Salina will represent people living with disabilities (PWD).

The four were the nominees for the marginalized groups.In the Gender list, all the 13 slots were given to Women who are Nancy Sang, Hellen Cheptoo, Tirop Belinda, Kemboi Kesumo Maria, Sambai Jepkemboi Leah, Rono Jebet Alice, Maiyo Jepkoech Zipporah, Jeruto Barbegi, Kendagor Jepkoech Aileen, Bitock Joan Cheserem, Dr. Barmao Cathrene Kiptanui, Malot Leah Jemeli and Jenny Jebet Too.

All the nominated MCAs in the county are from Jubilee party which won seats in 29 out of the 30 wards.
